About the role
You'll be one of the first engineers on the NECL product team. You'll ship the site fans open on matchday, the live scores product, the fantasy experience and everything in between.
We care about craft. We care about performance. We care about how a page feels the first time someone opens it on a 4G connection in Aizawl or Kohima.
Responsibilities
- Ship features across the NECL web platform — marketing, live scores, teams, fixtures, fantasy.
- Own performance, accessibility and SEO of the pages you ship.
- Work directly with design, product and content — no telephone-game specs.
- Contribute to the internal component library and design system.
- Own on-call rotation for the platform during matchdays.
Requirements
- 3+ years shipping production React / TypeScript to real users.
- Comfort with modern React, TanStack Router / Query, Tailwind and server-rendered stacks.
- Instinct for performance — you profile before you optimise.
- Strong written communication — most of the team is remote across India.
Preferred Qualifications
- Prior work on a sports, media or high-traffic consumer product.
- Experience with Supabase, edge functions and realtime data.
- Design sensibility — you can push back on a bad mock with a better one.
Location
Remote (India)
- Fully remote from anywhere in India with reliable connectivity.
- Quarterly team offsite in Guwahati for planning and matchday shadowing.
- Overlap of at least 5 hours a day with the 10:00–19:00 IST core window.
- Home-office setup allowance and annual hardware refresh.
Benefits
Role-specific
- ESOP grant from the founding-engineer pool.
- Fully remote with home-office allowance and annual gear refresh.
