About the role
You will be the football conscience of NECL. Your job is not to pick the team on Saturday — it is to make sure the next generation of North-East footballers has a real pathway to the top of the Indian and Asian game.
You'll define what "NECL football" looks like: how our academies work, how our coaches are certified, how our scouting network operates across eight states, and how our players graduate into I-League, ISL and the national team pipeline.
Responsibilities
- Design and publish the NECL Football Philosophy and Player Development Framework.
- Set coaching, scouting and academy standards for all eight state teams.
- Own the U15, U18 and senior scouting network across the North-East.
- Lead the coach education program — annual license upgrades, workshops and tactical clinics.
- Build the pathway between NECL and AIFF national youth camps, I-League and ISL clubs.
- Advise the Commissioner on rule changes that will raise the technical level of the league.
- Own the NECL player performance database and technical reporting.
Requirements
- AFC Pro Licence (or equivalent international coaching licence).
- 10+ years combined coaching, technical direction or football development leadership.
- Track record of developing players who reached professional or international football.
- Deep understanding of grassroots and youth football in India, ideally the North-East.
- Fluent, structured communicator in English; comfortable presenting to clubs and media.
Preferred Qualifications
- Prior technical role at a professional club, national FA or continental confederation.
- Published tactical or coaching material.
- Experience with performance analysis platforms (Wyscout, InStat, Hudl).
- Working knowledge of AFC youth licensing frameworks.
Location
Guwahati / Remote across the North-East
- Base of choice: Guwahati office or any of the eight NECL host states.
- Expect 10+ travel days a month visiting academies, state camps and training centres.
- Attendance required at all NECL playoff and final week fixtures.
